Alex Arzt
Alex Arzt was a Catoctin Mountain Park Artist-in-Residence April 29-May 13, 2012. Originally from Frederick, MD, Alex now lives in Brooklyn NY and has had exhibitions in Soho, NYC, and Providence and at Artomatic in Frederick. In 2010,she was a finalist in the national photography competition Photolucida’s Critical Mass, also in NYC. Alex’ medium is photography and she focuses on the human-animal connection or controversy depending on your perspective. Alex completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography from Rhode Island School of Design in 2010. She studied art and photography abroad at The Studio Art Centers International in Florence, Italy and at the Speos Institute of Photography in Paris, France. She was also part of the work/study program at the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops. For her presentation, Alex worked with a group of Cub Scouts staying at Camp Misty Mount and showed them how a "camera obscura" works.
